Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Site Defense team within its Infrastructure organization. The role involves designing and maintaining systems that protect Reddit from DDoS attacks, automated abuse, and large-scale scraping through high-scale, low-latency infrastructure, traffic analysis, and machine learning models for security. The candidate will also mentor junior engineers, participate in incident responses, and collaborate closely with security and infrastructure teams.

Responsibilities

You will design, build, and operate high-scale, low-latency systems to protect Reddit from DDoS attacks, automated abuse, and large-scale scraping. Additionally, you will partner with security and infrastructure teams to evolve ingress-level defenses and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

DDoS mitigation distributed systems firewalls and WAFs incident response load balancing machine learning networking programming languages (Python, Go, Rust, Java, C++) security traffic analysis

The role requires 7+ years of experience in building and operating high-throughput, low-latency production distributed systems. Candidates must have proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language and strong knowledge of networking fundamentals.
