Job summary

Gray Swan is seeking a Head of Biology to lead biological safety capabilities, assessing AI models for biological misuse risks, developing safety infrastructure, and translating biological expertise into technical systems within AI safety. The role involves designing evaluations, developing risk frameworks, producing risk assessments, and building a high-performing team at the intersection of biology and AI safety.

Responsibilities

You will lead the biology safety capability by designing adversarial evaluations for frontier AI models to mitigate biological misuse risks. Additionally, you will partner with machine learning engineers to translate biological expertise into scalable safety infrastructure, benchmarks, and risk frameworks.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant biological field with significant postdoctoral or equivalent research experience. You should possess deep expertise in biosecurity, dual-use research, and AI safety, along with a proven ability to build and lead technical teams.
