Job summary

Senior role in transmission and distribution cable system design, leading complex projects, and supporting strategic client engagement. Responsible for planning, designing, and delivering high-voltage cable systems, ensuring standards compliance, and managing multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder relations.

Responsibilities

The Principal Cable System Design Engineer will lead the delivery of large-scale HV/EHV cable system projects from concept to completion, ensuring technical excellence and safety. They will oversee complex designs, provide expert-level input on installation methodologies, and manage coordination across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Qualifications

Cable system specifications HV/EHV cable system design Installation and commissioning of cable systems Mentorship and team development Multidisciplinary coordination Project management Stakeholder engagement Standards compliance (National Grid TPs, IEC, CIGRÉ) Technical standards development Use of cable analysis software (CYMCAP, WinCable)

Candidates must have demonstrated experience as a technical leader in HV/EHV cable system design with a strong understanding of international and UK-specific standards. A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
