Job summary

Assist in examination and treatment of patients, manage check-in, measure vital signs, draw blood, prepare specimens, and maintain medical records in a healthcare facility.

Responsibilities

Register patients, verify insurance, collect patient histories, measure vital signs, perform point-of-care tests, and support providers during urgent care visits. Maintain clinical and reception areas, medical records, supplies, equipment quality logs, patient communications, and opening and closing procedures.

Qualifications

A high school diploma is required, and graduation from a medical assisting program and prior medical assistant or front desk experience are preferred. BLS certification and an approved medical assistant certification—or an accepted nursing or EMT qualification—are required at hire, with CPOE certification required within two weeks of starting.
