Job summary

Waymo seeks a Staff Engineer to design, build, and deploy advanced agentic AI systems, develop evaluation frameworks with metrics to optimize safety and reliability of autonomous vehicles, and automate hard evaluation problems at scale. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in AI/ML, software engineering, and large-scale complex systems, with a focus on autonomous agents and multi-agent systems.

Responsibilities

Design and deploy production-grade agentic AI systems to solve complex evaluation challenges for autonomous driving software. Develop automated frameworks and objective metrics to measure the safety and reliability of non-deterministic AI agents.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent and over 7 years of experience in software engineering and AI/ML. Must have a proven track record of deploying novel agent-based AI solutions and leading technical strategy in ambiguous domains.
