Job summary

Waymo is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to own and develop sensor hardware systems for autonomous vehicles, involving end-to-end product lifecycle management, complex optical, thermal, and structural tradeoffs, and cross-functional collaboration in a hybrid role.

Responsibilities

Take end-to-end ownership of critical sensor systems from initial architecture and prototyping through to mass production. Collaborate cross-functionally to design robust modules that balance optical, thermal, and structural tradeoffs for real-world environments.

Qualifications

Actuators CAD Cameras Displays GD&T LiDAR Mechanical Design Opto-Mechanical Design Radar Tolerance Analysis

Requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering with at least 7 years of industry experience in complex product design and mastery of 3D CAD tools. Preference is given to candidates with 10+ years of experience in opto-mechanical design and a track record of scaling production with international vendors.
