Job summary

The Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer will lead design activities for nuclear systems such as personnel airlocks, access hatches, and piping channels, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory standards, and project specifications. Responsibilities include conducting failure analysis, risk assessments, and managing interface coordination, with emphasis on cooling water systems, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technical documentation in nuclear projects.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of critical nuclear systems including airlocks, hatches, and penetrations for Fusion and Modular Nuclear projects. Oversee design package production, manage technical interfaces, and conduct risk assessments such as DFMEA and HAZID.

Qualifications

DFMEA and HAZID Interdisciplinary Collaboration Mechanical Design Nuclear Engineering Project Management Risk Management Safety and Regulatory Compliance Subcontractor Management Systems Engineering Technical Specification Development

Requires a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with extensive experience in cooling water systems, steam cycle modelling, and nuclear regulatory compliance. Must be eligible for UK security clearance and possess strong leadership skills for managing multi-disciplinary teams.
