Job summary

Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the guidance of healthcare providers by managing check-in, vital signs, blood sample collection, and preparing treatment rooms. Ensures medical records are maintained and supplies are stocked. Performs preliminary tests, answers patient questions, and supports daily operations in a busy urgent care environment.

Responsibilities

Register patients, verify insurance, collect medical histories, measure vital signs, perform point-of-care tests, and assist providers with examinations and treatment. Maintain patient records, clinic supplies, equipment quality logs, reception operations, and patient follow-up.

Qualifications

Basic life support (BLS) CMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA certifications EKG Laboratory specimen prep Medical Assisting Medical records management Order entry (CPOE) Patient registration Phlebotomy Vital signs measurement

A high school diploma is required, and graduation from a medical assisting program and prior medical assistant or front desk experience are preferred. A current BLS certification and an approved medical assistant certification—or an accepted nursing or EMT qualification—are required at hire, with CPOE certification required within two weeks of starting.
