Job summary

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room provides patient-centered surgical care, collaborates with the healthcare team, educates patients and families, ensures safety and quality standards, and participates in continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

The professional nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide patient- and family-centered care, addressing physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs while developing individualized care plans consistent with cultural beliefs. Responsibilities include integrating Evidence-Based Practice, educating patients and partners, minimizing harm by following protocols, and using technology for communication and ethical decision-making.

Qualifications

Clinical Judgment Communication Skills Cultural Competency Discharge Planning Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Medication Administration Nursing care Patient Assessment Patient Education Teamwork

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited school of nursing, with a BSN or advanced degree strongly preferred, along with previous RN experience in an acute care setting. Required credentials include current RN licensure in the state of practice and BLS certification.
