Job summary

Lila Sciences is building infrastructure for autonomous science focusing on AI systems that design experiments, operate labs, and support life sciences, chemistry, and materials science. They seek a Principal Engineer to develop secure, scalable enterprise platform capabilities such as multi-tenancy, identity, permissions, billing, and audit infrastructure, pushing forward agentic AI systems for self-service management, observability, and compliance. This deeply technical, senior individual contributor role involves defining system architecture, building core identity systems, tenant schemas, operational automation, and leading across platform engineering, security, AI/ML, and scientific teams.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of foundational enterprise platform systems, including multi-tenancy, identity management, and billing infrastructure. Drive the development of AI-powered self-service tools and secure APIs to enable large-scale pharmaceutical and research organization adoption.

Qualifications

Authentication & Authorization Billing & Metering Configurations Enterprise SaaS Multi-tenancy OAuth 2.0 OIDC RBAC SAML SDK

Requires 12+ years of software development experience with deep expertise in Enterprise SaaS, cloud-native architectures, and Python. A degree in Computer Science or a related field is required, with a strong track record of building scalable platform infrastructure.
